Types of Burn Injuries

Victims of burn injuries may receive their burns from a number of possible sources, including scalding water and exposure to fire or chemicals.  The resulting burn may be rated on a scale from first degree to sixth degree burns  While first and second degree burns may cause painful blisters on the skin, they do not tend to cause scarring; however, victims of third, fourth, fifth, and sixth degree burns generally require extended and costly medical care.  Unfortunately, children are the most common victims of burn injuries, usually from scalding water.  Because of their delicate skin, they can develop third degree burns in a matter of seconds when they are exposed to hot liquid.

Recovering from Burn Injuries

Serious burns that cover a large area of the body may result in wrongful death. Victims who do survive severe burn injuries usually face a lengthy and painful process that could include skin, bone, and muscle grafts, extended physical rehabilitation, and a lifetime of medical care.  This treatment can be costly, time consuming, and emotionally draining.  Our lawyers at Sinas, Dramis, Brake, Boughton & McIntyre, P.C., who handle catastrophic injury cases through the state of Michigan, including Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, and Flint, have extensive experience litigating burn injury cases and can help you obtain the compensation that you deserve.  Attorneys have insurance companies have attorneys working for them to protect their interest, you should have attorneys working for you and protecting your interests as well.
